The two-year Post Diploma Program in Hospitality/Hotel and Tourism Management provides a comprehensive training in hospitality and tourism management and prepares students for positions in this field. General hospitality and tourism management skills are developed to provide expertise in organizational management, customer service, decision-making, problem-solving, computer applications and  interpersonal skills.

The Program includes:

  • Co-op work permit.
  • 9-month paid Co-op.
  • Work experience in the field of hospitality and tourism.
  • Certificate from American Hotel & Lodging Association’s Educational Institute.

Program Description:

The post diploma program prepares students to develop professional skills in hospitality/hotel and tourism management. This post-graduate program is designed to gain hands-on knowledge and to use the acquired knowledge and skills in a 5-month (first year) and a 4-month (second year) paid Co-op. Each graduate from this program will develop the necessary skills to enter into the workforce successfully whether in Canada, USA or internationally and to make a career in  the hospitality and tourism industry.

Co-Op Work Experience:

Co-op education is part of the two-year Post Diploma Program in Hospitality/Hotel & Tourism Management. Participation in the Co-op Program is mandatory. Practical work experience in a related field is undertaken to enhance academic studies and develop professional and personal skills. This 5-month paid Co-op program in the first year and 4-month paid Co-op Program in the second year will provide students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills acquired in class in the real world of Hospitality and Tourism industry.

The Co-op Program includes:

  • Co-op Work permit.
  • Placement process (recruitment and placement).
  • Preparation assistance for all participating students (creating resume, etc.).
  • Student Co-op term reports and  employer evaluation (monitoring and evaluation).
Students in a Co-op program are not required to pay any additional Co-op fees. RCIT will take care of the costs associated with the administration of work placements.

It will enable students to better integrate the concepts that they continue to learn in the second year of the program from having experienced the work situation first-hand. It has been found that many cooperative education work term placements lead to permanent positions after graduation from our Post Diploma Program in  Hospitality/Hotel & Tourism Management.

Admission Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or diploma. Must have a good command of written and spoken English.  An entrance test or a telephone interview is required.

Fees:

All fees are in Canadian Dollars.

Registration Fee: 

$100 for domestic students
$200 for international students

Tuition Fee:

$14,000 for domestic students (per year)
$16,000 for international students (per year)

Textbooks:

$2,000 (per year)
