Program Description:

This one-year diploma program in HCNA provides balanced and complete training in the classroom, supervised clinical experience in a long-term care facility,
community setting and home, and a six-month co-op component. It is designed to provide students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, and
values necessary to function as a health care and nursing assistant in a variety of long term care settings which include home support, hospitals,
and residential care facilities. The graduates should be able to provide care to children and adults who experience diverse health and illness needs.

Why Health Care & Nursing Assistant:

Why HCNA Training?

• The job opportunities in this area only go up, never

down. There is a shortage of HCNA workers in Canada.

• The demand for HCNAs is high now and it is expected

to become even higher in the near future as the

number of aging population is increasing in Canada

and all over the world.

• Usually the job opportunities are within the community

where the HCNA students study and live. The students

do not have to look for a job far away

Career Opportunities:

Upon successful

completion of this program, our graduates will be

able to work in home support, assisted living, long-term

care facilities such as intermediate care, extended care

facilities, and adult day care centres. Workplaces include

hospices and seniors’ private homes where our graduates

will be looking after people who have diminished abilities

for self-care.

Benefits:

May be eligible to apply for work permit upon graduation

Admission Requirements:

Must have at least grade 12 or equivalent, 19 years of age or older and must have a good command of written and spoken English. An entrance test or a telephone interview is required.
