Academic Progress Policy Any students at risk for not
meeting the learning standards of a particular course or program may be
required to complete a performance review; this would be determined by
the instructor. The student’s ongoing status in the course/program
will be determined at the end of the review period. The instructors
will communicate to the students the learning outcomes and performance
criteria required to successfully complete the course/program.
This
process is something the college feels will provide students with the
means necessary to support them in being successful in their program
and in their careers after graduation. This policy is only put into
action when there is a serious concern about whether or not the student
will be successful in their field of study.
A. The instructor and the Director of the college will review the appropriate course of action. B. The
instructor and Director will arrange to have a meeting to discuss the
situation and the student’s progress. A written record of this meeting
will be kept in the student's file. If there is an agreement that a
performance review should be necessary, that force of action will be
taken. C. The instructor and Director will continually monitor
the student’s progress, during the review period. If the student has
reached their performance goals on or before the date written on file,
the student will be notified in writing that they have completed the
review process. D. If the student did not reach their goal by the
date stated on file, the Director will decide another course of
action. If the student’s performance is deemed harmful or a hazard to
self or others, the Director will send a request for immediate removal
from the program, to the President. The outcome of the review will be
made known to any sponsorship agencies involved, from the Director. E. The
outcome of the progress review (letter sent to student) will become
part of the student’s permanent record, along with all other review
documents, should the student be removed from the program. The student
must be informed in writing of all decisions and the appeal process.
