Admissions PolicyThe college will ensure that all
admissions and registration of applicants are facilitated in a fair and
timely manner, to balance the needs of the prospective student’s. RCIT
is responsible for ensuring that all information relevant to RCIT
processes and programs are accurate and available to interested
individuals. Applicants for Royal Canadian Institute of Technology must: - Provide all relevant admissions information
- Ensure their daily schedules are conflict free, before registering.
General AdmissionApplication for General Admission (Domestic Students)An
applicant may apply by completing an application form either in person
or online. The college charges applicants a one-time, non-refundable
application/registration fee for general admission services.
Qualification for General AdmissionApplicants, who satisfy both of the following, meet RCIT’s general admission requirements. Applicants must be: - A Canadian citizen or permanent resident, a landed immigrant or their dependents; and
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older
If
the student fails to meet these requirements, they will not be admitted
and neither the college nor the student can waive them. Confirmation of General AdmissionThe college deems the prospective student to be confirmed, once the full or partial tuition fees have been paid.
International Student AdmissionRoyal
Canadian Institute of Technology accepts applications from
international students. Please keep in mind that RCIT does not issue
any kinds of visas for international students, which is a common
misconception in the minds of most students. Rather Visa regulations
are determined by a department of the Canadian government called
Immigration Canada and these regulations often change. The safest
approach is to always check with the nearest Canadian Embassy or
Consulate. The information they give will be up to date and accurate.
Qualification for Admission (International Students)Applicants,
who satisfy both of the following, meet RCIT’s admission requirements
for international students. Applicants: - Must have grade 12 or equivalent or 19 years of age or older and must have a good command of spoken and written English
- An Entrance Test is required
If
the student fails to meet these requirements, they will not be admitted
and neither the college or the student can waive them. Medical InsuranceInternational
Students are required to obtain valid medical insurance on their
arrival in Canada. Medical insurance is a prerequisite and should be
purchased after arrival. If the student has a Student Authorization and
will be in Vancouver for longer than 6 months they can apply for
Government insurance (called the British Columbia Medical Service
Plan). The student must reside in British Columbia for three months
before they can be eligible for BC Medical Services Plan. Students
should apply for it as soon they arrive.
Program AdmissionApplication for Program AdmissionWhen
a student has paid their one-time general admission
application/registration fee, completes their application form, and
indicates the program of interest; they will be considered as a student
and will be issued a student number. The college will not accept
incomplete application forms.
Qualification for Program AdmissionAn individual is “qualified”
for a program when they have provided and completed all of the
necessary documents and successfully meets the entrance requirements.
Specific Qualifications for Course or Program AdmissionMany
College programs require specific course prerequisites among other
requirements that students must complete. Again, if the student fails
to meet these requirements, they will not be admitted and neither the
college nor the student can waive them.
